This Week in the Senate: 4/19/2021

This week, the Senate is holding votes on some executive branch nominations and one bill.

Floor Action:¹
Monday:
  • The Senate will vote at 5:30 pm to invoke cloture on the nomination of Lisa Monaco to be Deputy Attorney General.
Tuesday:
  • The Senate will vote to confirm Monaco and will vote to invoke cloture on (and confirm) the nomination of Gary Gensler to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission (for a term expiring in June 2026).
Wednesday:
  • The Senate will vote to invoke cloture on (and confirm) the nomination of Vanita Gupta to be Associate Attorney General and will continue consideration of S. 937, a bill related to responding to COVID-19-related hate crimes.
Thursday:
  • The Senate will continue consideration of S. 937.
