This Week in the Senate: 4/26/2021

This week, the Senate is holding votes on some executive branch nominations, one bill, and one joint resolution , and the Judiciary Committee will convene  a nominations hearing and an executive business  meeting . Floor Action:¹ Monday: The Senate will vote at 5:30 pm to invoke cloture on the nomination of Jason Scott Miller to be Deputy Director for Management of the Office of Management and Budget. Tuesday: The Senate will vote to confirm Miller and will vote to invoke cloture on (and confirm) the nominations of Janet McCabe to be Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency and Colin Kahl to be Undersecretary of Defense for Policy. The Senate will also vote on the motion to proceed to S. 914 , the Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act of 2021. Wednesday: The Senate will vote to invoke cloture on (and confirm) the nomination of Samantha Power to be Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development and will vote on passage of  S.J. Res.

This week, the Senate is holding votes on some executive branch nominations and one bill. Floor Action:¹ Monday: The Senate will vote at 5:30 pm to invoke cloture on the nomination of Lisa Monaco to be Deputy Attorney General. Tuesday: The Senate will vote to confirm Monaco and will vote to invoke cloture on (and confirm) the nomination of Gary Gensler to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission (for a term expiring in June 2026). Wednesday: The Senate will vote to invoke cloture on (and confirm) the nomination of Vanita Gupta to be Associate Attorney General and will continue consideration of  S. 937 , a bill related to responding to COVID-19-related hate crimes. Thursday: The Senate will continue consideration of S. 937. Notes: ¹The floor schedule is an approximate guide to when votes may occur. Tuesday: The Senate will vote to confirm Trottenberg and will vote to invoke cloture on (and confirm) the nominations of Wendy Sherman to be Deputy Secretary of State and Gary Gensler to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission (for a term expiring in June 2021). The Senate will also vote to invoke cloture on the nomination of Brenda Mallory to be a Member of the Council on Environmental Quality.
