This Week in the Senate: 3/8/2021

This week, the Senate is holding votes on some executive branch nominations.

Floor Action:¹
Monday:
  • The Senate will be in recess.
Tuesday:
  • The Senate will vote at 5:30 pm to invoke cloture on the nominations of Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-OH) and Judge Merrick Garland to be Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and Attorney General, respectively.
Wednesday:
  • The Senate will vote to confirm Fudge and Garland and will vote to invoke cloture on (and confirm) the nomination of Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Michael Regan to be Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Thursday:
  • The Senate will vote to discharge the nomination of California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, to be Secretary of Health and Human Services, from the Finance Committee, and will vote to invoke cloture on the nomination of Rep. Deb Haaland (D-NM) to be Secretary of the Interior.
