This Week in the Senate: 3/1/2021

This week, the Senate is holding votes on some executive branch nominations and one bill.

Floor Action:¹
Monday:
  • The Senate will vote at 5:30 pm to confirm Connecticut Education Commissioner Miguel Cardona to be Secretary of Education and will vote to invoke cloture on the nomination of Governor of Rhode Island Gina Raimondo to be Secretary of Commerce.
Tuesday:
  • The Senate will vote to confirm Raimondo and will vote to invoke cloture on (and confirm) the nomination of Dean of the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs Cecilia Rouse to be Chair of the Council of Economic Advisors.
Wednesday:
  • No votes are scheduled.
Thursday:
  • The Senate will begin consideration of H.R. 1319, the Democratic stimulus package.
Friday:
  • The Senate will continue considering H.R. 1319.
