This Week in the Senate: 6/29/2020

This week, the Senate is holding votes on one bill and one nomination, and the Judiciary Committee will convene an executive business meeting.

Monday:
  • The Senate will vote at 5:30 pm on the motion to proceed to S. 4049, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021.
Tuesday:
  • The Senate will continue consideration of the NDAA.
Wednesday:
  • The Senate will continue consideration of the NDAA, with votes on amendments likely.
Thursday:
  • The Senate will vote to invoke cloture on the nomination of Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget Russell Vought to serve as Director of the agency.
On Thursday, the Judiciary Committee will hold an executive session to vote on and/or hold over the following nominations (the number in the parentheses appearing after the nominee's name signifies whether this is the first or second time appearing on the agenda; first-time appearances are typically held over and nominees appearing for the second time usually receive votes):
    District Court:
    1. John W. Holcomb, to be a U.S. District Judge for the Central District of California (1)
    2. Brett H. Ludwig, to be a U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Wisconsin (1)
    3. R. Shireen Matthews, to be a U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of California (1)
    4. Todd Wallace Robinson, to be a U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of California (1)
    5. Christy Criswell Wiegand, to be a U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania (1)
