  1. That cloture has been invoked on Schelp is surprising since that seat doesn't open up until August.
    Most confirmations up until now haven't been done more than a couple weeks before the seat became vacant. Quattlebaum being the most notable instance.

    1. Since he's one of the few nominees from a red state on the executive calendar, I'm assuming Sen. McConnell wanted to get him out of the way.
